Perched on a 1,500 square meter lot, the L residence fully utilizes its 90-meter-wide panoramic city and mountainside view. Inspired by California hillside houses, this home is designed to fully embrace the indoor-outdoor lifestyle of the client without sacrificing their privacy.

Upon approach, a discreet facade greets everyone. This discreetness is expressed through slender privacy screens and slanted walls that are framed by bold horizontal lines that runs along the home. This gesture of closing off the facade intends to protect the home from wandering eyes and enhances the contrast on its opposite side.

The interior of the home reveals a contrast of open views. Guests are welcomed with a succession of framed views that highlight the different sections of the surrounding landscape. This visual journey culminates in the living room, where a 180-degree of an unobstructed city view reveals itself.  

Although the rear elevation of the home is fully glazed, the team ensured that heat would not be an issue. Simple solutions such as movable screens, deep overhands, and extensions of the building mass aim to shade the interiors. Through these strategies we hope to create a distinct home that provides privacy and comfort to its residents for years to come.
