Damaged by Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) the Yu Residence covered a major renovation where all the building plans had to be produced as soon as possible due the fragile condition of the home. The clients also expressed their desire to create an extension to the master bedroom as the current balcony was of little use to them.

We decided to highlight this extension through the use of aluminum cladding and added wood accents to tie the whole design together. To address the problem of heat gain along the attic, we provided steel louvers to filter the hot air out of the house. By doing so, the presence of all basic building materials; wood, concrete, steel, and glass are clearly shown harmoniously throughout the home.
