A residence
Heavily damaged by Typhoon Odette, the client for this 3-storey residence commissioned for its repair and renovation at the same time. Accommodating a young family of 7, the brief for this house was to provide high quality material finishes for a straightforward, streamlined exterior and light-colored interiors.
An ode to the past, the wood panels used in the rear facade are the same salvaged pieces of wooden flooring that were damaged during the typhoon. The wooden louvers set in front of the glass windows serve as storm shutters that protect its interiors from typhoons.
The final result is a family home that ages well and does not need to be renovated every few years. Should another calamity come their way, this family knows they can find shelter in the one place that matters most, capable of withstanding not only storms, but the test of time as well.
