project pagoda
Situated in the middle of a school campus, this modern pagoda pays homage to the original school building through its use of repurposed materials from the old structure.
The moon gate, the multi-tiered roof, and an adapted dougong bracket system, are the design elements made evident in the structure to strengthen Chinese identity in the lives of the students.
The pagoda is also composed of modular units that can be transformed into a variety of configurations and purposes, such as several shelving components, benches, tables, and even a stage. This approach encourages social interaction and group activities while reminding students of their heritage through various design elements aimed a piquing their curiosity and creativity.
