sea view residences

This mixed residential project is located on an island and is within walking distance to a wide beachfront. It was the client’s explicit intention that the project maximize the qualities of its unique location while embodying a warm and inviting aesthetic.

The main concept was to design the building to be responsive to its surroundings and not just inadvertently planted on the lot. The building’s form was influenced by existing trees present on the site; its basic volume was segmented into smaller masses that were strategically oriented to views of the sea and the sun.

After achieving panoramic views of the horizon via the skewing of the individual masses, the top-most portion of the towers were recessed to create a sense of hierarchy among these volumes. From the beachfront, the structure could be viewed as an inviting addition to the area due to the incorporation of accents and architectural treatments that do not overwhelm or dominate the essence of its location.
